3 Flying Cars Ready to Drive & Fly

Their time is about to come.  Three flying cars are now at the tipping point of going into production for sales in global markets.  The vehicles ready for takeoff, that are road legal with wings, include Slovakia-based Klein Vision's AirCar, Dutch company PAL-V International's Liberty Sport and Oregon-based Samson Sky's Switchblade.  They are heralding in a brand-new form of travel.   Slovakia's Klein Vision Air Car                                          Source:  Klein Vision AirCar Dawn of a New Type of Travel There's a big breakthrough for the global flying car industry.  Slovakia based Klein Vision's AirCar has been awarded a certificate of airworthiness allowing it to fly.  The flying car has completed 70 hours of rigorous flight tests including more than 200 take-offs and landings.  It's a landmark event heralding the dawn of a new mode of travel.  The certificate was awarded by the Slovak Transport Authority.  A pilot's license is required to fly the vehicle. Tech Specs With the press of a button, AirCar can transform from a car to a plane in 2 minutes and 15 seconds.  It's powered by a 140 hp,1.6-liter, 4-cylinder BMW combustion engine. The engine powers the fixed propeller when flying and the wheels when driving on the road. To drive, the vehicle automatically folds the wings, raises them up and then stores them in the composite b

  Slovakia's AirCar Takes First Intercity Flight                                                  Source:  KleinVision A Flying Car That Drives and Flies Slovakia's Klein Vision has made flying car history.  Its AirCar, a combination car and aircraft, has completed its first intercity flight in Slovakia.  The flight lasted 35 minutes.  Within two minutes and 15 seconds of landing, it converted into a sportscar and drove to Bratislava, Slovakia -- the destination in its journey from Nitra, Slovakia. Tech Specs The AirCar Prototype 1 is the invention of University of Munster Professor Stefan Klein and has been developed by his company Klein Vision.  Prototype 1 has a 160 horsepower fixed propeller engine and Prototype 2 will have a 300 horsepower engine.  AirCar has a range of 621 miles.  Top air speeds are 186 mph.  The aircraft can fly up to 600 miles at an altitude of 8,200 feet.  It runs on gasoline.
