SE Aeronautics' New SE 200 Could Revolutionize Flying                                             Source:  SE Aeronautics Short Takeoff & Landing Potential SE Aeronautics of Alabama is developing a revolutionary new, tri-wing commercial jumbo jet concept.  The SE 200 has a very disruptive and innovative design approach.  Besides the tri-wings, there are a double tail fin and two engines on the back of the plane.  It can carry 264 passengers at a speed of nearly Mach 1, all the while using 70% less fuel than a similar sized jet, greatly reducing the greenhouse gas emissions. Highly Advanced Technology and Many Advantages Some aviation experts believe that the SE 200 could revolutionize the aviation industry.  The prototype is configured with a high lift wing design which enables short distance takeoffs and landings....

Tri-Wing, Greener Flying                                                                           Source:  SE Aeronautics SE Aeronautics SE200 Aircraft jet fuel emissions are among the top contributors to global greenhouse gas emissions and Climate change.  Now, from Alabama-based SE Aeronautics comes a tri-wing jumbo jet prototype, the SE 200, that cuts jet fuel consumption by 70% and reduces CO2 emissions by 80%.  The design and performance of this green flying prototype are radically different from other aircraft now in use. Super Efficient Passenger Jet The SE 200 is an ultra wide plane capable of carrying more than 264 passengers.  It is a tri-wing design with a double tail fin and two engines mounted on the rear of the plane.  It fl...

Underwater Forest 60K Yrs Old Discovered

60,000 Year Old Cyprus Forest Off Alabama Coast Source:  Northeastern U scientist with ancient tree wood Scientists Say: Potential for New Medicines Off the coast of Alabama in Mobil Bay,  scientists have discovered a 60,000 year old forest of cypress trees.  The forest  is  now 60 feet underwater.  It once grew along the banks of a river. The team of scientists from Northeastern University in Boston and the University of Utah believe the trees may help forward the creation of new medicines.   Diving Back 60,000 Years The trees were buried under water, sediment and eventually the seabed for 60,000 years.  Powerful storms, including hurricanes that hit Alabama, blew open the seabed and exposed the forest.  NOAA funded the scientists diving expedition to document  the underwater forest and bring back samples of the wood. Surprising Findings Back in the lab, the scientists fou...
