   Debuts New Electric Vehicles at CES 2022 Las Vegas                                                                                                                                    Source:  VinFast Vietnam's Global Automaker VinFast is a fast growth, startup automaker based in Vietnam.  It debuted several new electric vehicles at the Consumer Electronics Show 2022 (CES) in Las Vegas.  And it hit gold, landing its first corporate fleet customer in the US - biotech Artemis DNA.  Artemis ordered 100 VinFast electric vehicles.  VinFast works with the renowned Italian design studio Pininfarina and Torino.  The EV maker's sales shot up more than 21% in 2021, despite the global pandemic.   Sony Unveils Electric SUV Concept Source:  Sony Vehicles Loaded with AI and Robotics Global electronics giant Sony is going into electric vehicles in a very big way.  It just announced that it is forming a new, Mobility Unit that will specialize in developing electric cars.  And, it just unveiled a prototype electric SUV, the Vision-S 02 at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2022 in Las Vegas.   This is Sony's second EV.  It joins Sony's electric Vision-S 01 sedan concept car that debuted in 2021.  These vehicles are state-of-the-art and loaded with highly advanced artificial intelligence (AI) and robotics. Very Advanced Sensor Technology for Safety Sony says it will utilize the best in AI and robotics in its electric vehicles.  Sony says safety is the top priority.  The Vision-S 02 has 40 sensors inside and on the outside of the car including "high sensitivity, high resolution, wide dynamic range CMOS image sensors and Lidar sensors that accurately sense 3-D space.&quo

Mercedes to Offer Solar Roofs on EVs

  Solar Roof Options by 2024                                               Source:  Mercedes German Luxury Automaker Taps the Sun Mercedes Benz unveiled a stunning electric concept, the Vision EQXX, at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas this week.  The sleek, futuristically designed sedan has a 117 solar cell panel on the roof to generate an additional 15.5 miles of driving range.  While the Vision EQXX doesn't have a date to go into production yet, the solar roof does.  Mercedes has decided to offer the solar roof as an option on all of its electric vehicles starting in 2024. Unique Solar Technology Mercedes worked with the renowned German research institute Fraunhofer to co-develop the new solar technology.  Power generated by the 117 solar cells is stored in a separate lithium-iron-phosphate battery.  It provides power for the car's lights, infotainment and other systems.  The solar system supplements the main battery pack and increases the driving range.  The

  Electric Concept with 620 Mile Range                                      Source:  Mercedes Vision EQXX MB On the Electric Road With Rolling R&D Lab Mercedes unveiled its long-anticipated Vision EQXX electric concept car at CES 2022 in Las Vegas.  The car breaks the mold for unique styling, design and technology.  It can travel 620 miles on a single charge.  Mercedes says that is the equivalent of travelling from New York City to Cincinnati nonstop.  The German luxury car manufacturer says the Vision EQXX is the most efficient car that it has ever built.  It needs a full recharge just twice a month. Design and Style The Vision EQXX is all about luxury, efficiency and zero emissions.  The body is distinctively different from other Mercedes models with a sleek, curvy and futuristic look.  Segments of the car's exterior are 3-D printed.
