D A ILY INNOVATION BRIEF By Journalists Edward Kane & Marya nne Kane DARPA'S EXPRESS TRAIN ON THE MOON Source: Stock & NASA The US Defense Department's Advanced Research Projects Agency DARPA is funding the creation of moonshot concept - a train system for the Moon. Here are some key facts: DARPA just awarded aerospace & defense contractor Northrup Grummon a contract to create a concept for a Moon train system Northrup is tasked with determining if it is physically and financially possible One option being looked at is a Maglev levitating train moving through vacuum tubes, which would protect the train from abrasive lunar dust The train has a number of purposes: transport astronauts living on the Moon, help in the process of building necessary infrastructure and enable commercial business opportunities on the Moon NASA's Artemis missions aims to have humans living on the Moon by 2025; no human has been on the Moon since 1972 A lunar expre...
