Here's what we know: The scientists broadcast a call through underwater speakers to a humpback whale named Twain The calls deployed were from other whales When the humpback whale heard the call, it approached the boat and responded with a greeting call As scientists adjusted the frequency of the greeting call, the whale adjusted the frequency of its responses Scientists concluded the whale Twain was enjoying an interactive conversation Whales are highly intelligent with sophisticated communications systems Upshot: the scientists hope to use th
