World's First Truly Intelligent Ship                                         Source:  Mayflower 400 Captained by Artificial Intelligence In Plymouth, England, the world's first fully autonomous, intelligent ship - the Mayflower 400 - is preparing for its first transatlantic voyage to Plymouth, MA.  The Mayflower 400 commemorates the 400th anniversary of the landing of the Pilgrims in Plymouth, MA in 1620.  The 50 foot trimara weighs nine tons and navigates completely autonomously.  It is a ship without any people onboard for the ocean voyage to Massachusetts. Construction of the $1 million vessel took a year.  Every component of the ship operates autonomously including the diesel generator that supplements the solar panels that cover Mayflower 400. There is a robotic rudder that steers the vessel.  The journey to Plymouth will take three weeks and a great deal of scientific discovery will be generated along the way. Smart Captain Mayflower 400 is captained by Artificial Intelli

UK and Legally Binding Environmental Targets Source:  London's Richmond Park  Fighting Climate Change Britain is rolling out legally binding environmental targets to combat climate change.  The targets include cleaner water, reduced air pollution, waste reduction and more biodiversity.  The legally mandated targets are designed to improve the environment and rebuild the economy.  The new legislation, set to be considered by Parliament, will force the current and future British governments to focus on improving the environment. Build Back Green British Prime Minister Boris Johnson has pledged to "build back green" as the British economy was cut by 20% in the second quarter of 2020 by COVID-19 lockdowns and shutdowns.  A new watchdog agency "The Office for Environmental Protection" is being established to monitor the UK's progress toward the environmental targets.  The Office will also oversee the government's progress toward its commitment to have the U

Airbus E-Plane Innovation Source:  Airbus' White Lightning Future of Flying Electric At an Airbus sponsored air racing tournament, the world's first electric powered sports/racing aircraft was unveiled.  Airbus is the major developer behind it.  The company is looking to expand its green aerospace technology.  Their electric racing plane prototype is powered by an electric motor and lithium batteries up to speeds of 300 mph. Green, Speed, Precision This weekend French pilot Didier Esteyne flew the Airbus E-Fan prototype - named White Lightning - across the English Channel. Air Race E is partnering with Airbus on this.  The e-plane will be manufactured by Corda Aviation based in the UK.  The prototype system is impressive as the electric motor can hit 300 mph, in a tight 3 mile circuit, 10 meters above the ground. International Races The racing plane models have a big purpose.  They are designed to accelerate the era of electric commercial air travel and thereby dra
