Zapata Air Racer                                        Source:  Zapata Air Racer One of a Kind Personal Flying Machine French entrepreneur and jet ski racer Franky Zapata has created a 1-person VTOL flying machine that can handle barrel rolls like a fighter jet and is coming to the US for test flights this year. Known as Air Racer (aka Jet Racer), here are the key facts: VTOL (vertical takeoff & landing vehicle) has 1 seat, 10 jet engines, each with independent electric controls, and is designed for nearly autonomous flight Pilot inputs into flight controller system app what the destination is and the control panel determines the best route to get there Vehicle is so technologically advanced and agile, it can be programmed to perform barrel rolls like a fighter jet Pilot controls only direction and altitude and the flight control panel autonomously pilots the rest of the flight Software that drives the control system is designed for stability Top speeds of 125 to 155 mph with most

SkyDrive Successful Test Flight Source:  SkyDrive Test Flight Japanese Govt. Wants Flying Cars Operating by 2023 The beginning of the flying car era just got a lot closer.  Today, Japan's flying car, the SkyDrive, took off with one person onboard in a successful test flight. It lifted up several feet (1 to 2 meters) and then hovered in a netted area for four minutes.  It was a modest test flight but the vehicle worked. Crowded Skies There are more than 100 flying car projects around the world.  The most notable are the Dutch PAL-V, Lithium of Germany, Joby Aircraft of California, Wisk (Boeing & Larry Page's Kitty Hawk) and SkyDrive.  According to SkyDrive leader Tomohiro Fukuzawa, only a very few have succeeded to fly with a person onboard.  The Japanese government wants flying cars in the skies over major Japanese cities to ease traffic by 2023.  Fukuzawa expects SkyDrive to be an available product on the market by 2023.   eVTOL SkyDrive is an eVTOL, meaning electric verti

US Dept of Transportation Pushes the Technology Forward Source:  Hyperloop TT LA to Vegas in 20 Minutes In the US and Dubai, hyperloop transportation is very close to reality.  This summer, the US Department of Transportation became the first government agency in the world to issue guidance and establish regulations for hyperloop technology.  In the US, Virgin Hyperloop and Hyperloop Transportation Technologies (TT) are working on hyperloop technologies and projects in population centers like Los Angeles, Las Vegas and Chicago. In the United Arab Emirates, the first commercial hyperloop operation developed by Hyperloop TT is expected to break ground later this year. What Does This Mean For You? It would mean getting to your destination at incredibly fast speeds.  For instance, LA to Las Vegas in 20 minutes. Chicago to Pittsburgh, with 5 stops in between, in 45 minutes. The hyperloop uses magnetic levitation and vacuum pumps to propel a pod, carrying passengers, through a tube at speeds

New China Regulations: Facial Recognition Reaches Mobile Phones Source:  Facial ID Scanning Stock Image May Prevent Fraud in Cyberspace But Does it Increase Citizen Surveillance? This is a new use of facial recognition technology that the world is watching.  China put new regulations into effect on Sunday that require Chinese telecom operators to scan the faces of people registering for new mobile phone services in China.  The consumer or business could be buying a new SIM card or any new mobile phone services.  The purchaser has no choice but to have their face scanned.  The Chinese government says it's combating cyber-fraud and protecting its citizens from being hacked.  This is facial recognition at the cutting edge of use, controversy and possibly usefulness. Once your face is scanned on your mobile phone, anyplace you use it, such as in your home and stores, could be tracked. Controversial This could be viewed as a legitimate and ongoing push by China to ensure peop
