D A ILY INNOVATION BRIEF By Journalists Edward Kane & Marya nne Kane NEW INNOVATION: SELF-CLEANING PAINT Source: Stock & TU Wien Scientists from Austria and Italy have developed self-cleaning paint - one of the world's most useful innovations. It also chemically breaks-down air pollutants. And the paint is longer lasting. Here's what we know: European scientists have developed a nanoparticle composed of titanium oxide+ that creates self-cleaning paint It can be added to any commercially available paint The nanoparticles are photo-catalytically active and can trigger cleaning when touched by sunlight The scientists are from TU Wien in Vienna and Universita Polytecnia delle Marche in Italy They say their painted wall solution destroys indoor pollution in the air, makes the air cleaner and the wall cleans itself They add the paint is also much longer lasting The team is conducting more testing but they intend to commercialize i
